19 weeks [praying for Judah]

I definitely hope he isn't as smushed as this pic seems!

This week Judah's sensory development is exploding! His brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch--pray this develops naturally and perfectly . Some research suggests that he may be able to hear my voice now.  Everything is telling me I should be reading aloud, talking to him, or singing a tune if the mood strikes me--I'm trying, but it feels so awkward! Joel does a much better job at this than I do--the other night he began testing out his lullabies. It was so funny to hear the songs that Joel normally listens to in a watered down, lullaby type song.  Joel has a gift of memorizing lyrics that never ceases to amaze me. I guess I should get on the ball with thinking of songs to sing.

Judah weighs about 8 ounces and should measure about 6 inches, head to bottom — about the size of a large heirloom tomato. His arms and legs should be in the right proportions to each other and the rest of him body now--pray for this process and continued strengthening of bones. His kidneys continue to make urine and the hair on him scalp is sprouting (I'm guessing brown :) ). A waxy protective coating called the vernix caseosa is forming on his skin to prevent it from pickling in the amniotic fluid--pray this also happens without hesitation.
