18 weeks [praying for baby J]

I missed last week's update!  These last few weeks have really seemed to fly by.  I'll have to catch up later. :)

This week head to rump, baby j is about 5 1/2 inches long (about the length of a bell pepper) and he/she weighs almost 7 ounces. Baby j is busy flexing arms and legs. Blood vessels are visible through the thin skin, and the ears are now in their final position, although they're still standing out from the head a bit. A protective covering of myelin is beginning to form around the nerves, a process that will continue for a year after birth--pray this process goes uninterrupted and happens healthily.

If baby j is a girl, her uterus and fallopian tubes are formed and in place. If baby j is a boy, his genitals are noticeable now, but he may hide them from you during an ultrasound. Which I hope he/she doesn't on Tuesday, so we can get a good glimpse and now who baby j is.  :)
